US Military Aircraft Refuels at Port Blair, Amid a Border Tussle with China
Amidst the ongoing military conflict with China in eastern Ladakh, a new development seems to have started, with the refueling of the long-range maritime patrol aircraft of the US from the strategically-located Andaman & Nicobar island archipelago. An American P-8 Poseidon aircraft loaded with missiles, rockets, and radars, which can thwart any nemesis warship strategy, and submarines landed at Port Blair on September 25 for several hours for logistics and refueling help, said sources on Friday.
Unlock 5.0 Guidelines Allow School, Colleges and Cinemas to Open from October 15
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) unveiled the unlock 5.0 guidelines on Wednesday. Under the new guidelines, schools and colleges in the country may get the nod to re-open from October 15 after the consultation with the schools and institutions’ management. Attendance won’t be compulsory in schools. Further relaxing the COVID-19 restrictions, cinemas, theaters, and multiplexes have also got permission to open from mid-October with up to 50% of their seating capacity in non-containment zones (coronavirus cases in India). But commoners can’t use swimming pools. It will open from October 15 as well, but only for the training of swimmers.
Cash Strapped South Delhi Civic Body Mulls Another Levy
After introducing several charges like garbage user charges, approving professional tax, hiking licensing fees, and increasing commercial property tax rates, penniless South Delhi Municipal Corporation is mulling to levy ‘compensatory regulatory charges’ to bring some money in its empty fund. The civic body has proposed to impose this new charge when new building construction gets sanction. It will depend on the area and its prevailing circle rates.
